Dear Bristol,
I would first like to apologize on behalf of ‘The Internet’ for the role that it has played in demonizing and degrading you. Your personal life is, and should be, your own business. From what little I have seen of you, I find your aplomb and grace during this situation to be admirable.
I also admire your courage. As a teenager whose mother is running for Vice President of the United States, it seemed inevitable (however unfair) that your life would be seized upon by unsavory members of the political community and used as ammunition against your mother. But even if your mother was just an average hockey-mom in Alaska, the situation you face is not one that many people envy. But the fact that you have chosen to keep the child only reinforces the positive image I have of you.
Perhaps without knowing it, you have become a role model for conservative girls across America. You have shown that mistakes must not necessarily lead to a dull gray life. But more than that, your decision to keep the baby as opposed to having it ‘taken care of’ shows that your respect for life and your acceptance of your own responsibility is genuine.
I want you to know that whatever the press and the hate-blogs say about you, you will always have the support and gratitude of this blogger for your choices to respect life, accept consequences, and to do both with grace and dignity. While this voice is but one of many, I am confident that those members of the political community that have integrity and decency have and will continue to show you support by defending you and leaving you to your privacy as your parents have asked.
I wish you and Levi the best of luck on this journey. God bless you, your family, and your child.
Signed most sincerely,
Palin4America
