Oprah is facing an insurrection at her own website of hundreds of members of the community who are unhappy with her blacklisting of Sarah Palin from her show.
While I haven’t read enough to say there’s a general consensus, the majority of what I have read supports the idea that Oprah’s base, white middle-class women in the flyover states, are pretty upset with Oprah’s judgement.
The call for people to boycott Oprah’s show and her sponsors has gone up. Only time will tell whether anyone heeds the call.

Sarah Palin: Sincere but misinformed
I like Sarah Palin. She is sincere and full of energy. But she is woefully misinformed.
No sex education! Whoops! Teenager has a baby!
Shouldn’t that be a clue?
Brother-in-law is harassing her sister. Palin pulls strings to get him fired. Is that going too far?
Doesn’t like some of the books in the local library. She asks the librarian if she would mind removing certain books. The librarian indicates she will not tolerate censorship. Palin gets her fired.
The common thread here is the self-appointed assumption that what I (Palin) decide is better for you than what you decide. Ohh, that smacks of totalitarianism! Too bad it hasn’t worked, doesn’t work, and won’t work in the future. Most amazing of all (and tragic) is that some people don’t like to think for themselves. They are mentally lazy, and oh-so willing to let others make these crucial decisions for them. You could see a few mindless drones waving flags and cheering her at the Republican Convention.
Reminds of the Stockholm syndrome. The captives after a while begin to idolize their kidnappers. “I’m going to restrict
what you can say and do, but trust me, this will be good for you!” Yeah! Pit-bull with lipstick!

I would appreciate it if you were to do some research before posting here, or at least cite your sources when making such outrageous allegations.
1. She’s pro-contraception. Look it up.
2. First thing, the brother-in-law tazered at 10 year old boy–he should be fired. Second, there is no evidence that Palin herself had to do with Walt Monegan’s firing. An investigation is ongoing. Look it up.
3. The librarian was not fired, although Palin attempted to fire her because of budget and administrative differences. The only thing we know about this is the librarian’s side of the story. The librarian, also, was dating a police chief that Palin fired (for cause) and was working for Palin’s political opponent. Look it up.
I really do appreciate real debate, but I don’t appreciate lies and misleading, unsourced statements.
Oprah has fucked up by openly endorsing Obama, (not that I’m saying she shouldn’t be free to do that) but she has skrewd up far more by not letting Palin on her show. —
Whether or not Oprah politically agrees with her is irrelevant when one takes into account that Palin is an empowered woman. Strange, hmmmm, I thought that was the type of woman Oprah likes.
Perhaps she only likes empowered women if they are Liberal Democrats. IF they are conservatives then she apparently thinks their life story of climbing the ladder is irrelevant.
At this point, I would say that if Oprah were to break and allow Sarah Palin it would not help Oprah anymore because she has dammaged herself goods by her blantant bias already by saying “no” the first time.

Yep, I agree completely. The reason they’re attacking Sarah so viciously is because they’re scared to death of her. She cleaned up Alaska and I plan to help elect her and John in November so they can go to Washington and clean that place up too. Obama whined and whined when somebody just repeated something his wife had said about “being proud of her country for the first time” and then they turn around and not only attack Sarah but also her family.
I’m telling everyone I know to register to vote and some of them who are have never voted before. That’s because they realize how critical it is that we keep the likes of Obama out of office. I have no problem with a black man being my President but just not this one. I’ve heard too many stories about the types he associates with and you know what they say, “birds of a feather flock together”. He has no experience with things that are important and there are other things I don’t agree with him on. And, Oprah is just like a lot of others who, unfortunately, could care less what’s on the inside as long as the skin on the outside is BLACK. Well, I don’t pick my President by the color of his skin I pick him by his character and I agree with the last poster…….

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton ran for president and she did not endorse them.
We can’t forget Alan Keyes who ran for president in 1996, 2000, 2008 according to his wikipedia and Oprah didn’t support him.
Now if you are blaming Oprah for supporting Obama cause he is black and criticizing her for not having Palin on cause she is a woman, she can’t win for losing. So she should NOT support Barack just cause he is black but she should support Palin just cause she is a woman.

Interesting that democrats, particularly liberal women, are reacting with such vitriol to Palin. One would think her independence, confidence, and toughness would embody everything they believe in. Oh yeah..I forgot…they are one issue voters. It’s all about killing the baby isn’t it. Oddly enough, if an unborn fetus perishes as a result of a man’s actions, the man can be convicted of first degree murder, but a mother can kill her baby during birth? Hmm…no double standard there I guess. Let me break it down for the whiners. It’s really the death of the progressive movement that’s got libs and their media all in a twist. If HObama loses this election, which he will, (look at Zogby folks, he’s the only one who polls LIKELY VOTERS), with all of the current Bush hatred, with their messianic candidate, with MSM hit pieces about unsubstantiated affairs, switched babies, etc., it truly represents the death knell for the left’s great 40 year experiment known as the progressive movement. Kirk, a lot of Oprah’s viewers are in an uproar about her blacklisting of Governor Palin, rightly or wrongly. Yes, it’s her show and she can decide who she wants on, but I cannot believe that she is doing this for the sake of ‘not supporting a candidate’.
Like it or not, middle-class women are interested in Sarah Palin’s candidacy. They have every right to be angry at what they see as Oprah’s hypocrisy.
Thanks so much for posting this info about the boycott! Now I know just where to post my support of Oprah for her strong stance against right-wing intolerance that tries to dictate who she should talk to and when. I’ve also just subscribed to her magazine (which I haven’t in the past) and let her know exactly why: That she shouldn’t have to bend to the will of the extreme right wing who make up Palin’s minimal support.

Governor Palin is the single best motivating force we’ve had in 8 months of volunteering for Obama–and the $10 million dollars he got from people like me after her mean-spirited (and moronic) attacks shows what a wonderful asset to the Obama campaign she really is!

Anyone else find it sad that Sarah Palin is a bigger asset to the Democratic ticket than Obama?
Not that I’ve watched Oprah all that much this year because her show has gotten more and more liberal and spewing political propaganda in the guise of entertainment – but that said, I will make it a decided practice to never watch Oprah again.
Yes, she can have anyone she wants on her show, but I can watch any show I want. She did promote Barack Obama, declared candidate or not, everyone knew he was running. That’s merely an excuse not to have any of the other candidates on her show while giving lots of face time to Barack Obama.
Oprah’s show is basically a woman’s show and women want to know more about Sarah Palin. So they merely need to find another show which will entertain Sarah Palin and her tremendous achievements. We also know The View (another show I refuse to have in my house) won’t be asking her, or if they do, it will be gang warfare.
As far as sex education: what Sarah Palin wanted was the teach of abstinence as an alternative and also to tone down the explicit sex education in schools. How can anyone be against this? It is the parents’ duty to teach their kids about sex (and yes, a teenager can get pregnant even when knowing everything they need to know about sex). When sex education ended up in schools it was allowing the government to take the role of “parent” in schools – something liberals love.
Since Liberals are so fond of parenting in government they should be well pleased that the GOP ticket offers them both a Daddy and a Mommy!
Posters: stop repeating rumors from trash tabloid writers and think for yourself. The stupid “experience” thing is also trash because even if you buy that Sarah Palin isn’t “experienced” who would you rather have be inexperienced – your VP candidate or your Presidential candidate?

Oprah endorsed Obama. Her show is not the type that wants to get politically involved. She can do what she wants with it. About Sarah’s daughter the baby and sex education. I AM an educator. There is no guarantee that sex education will prevent pregnancy. I am sure an astute family like the Palin’s have told all of their daughters about the birds and the bees. What kids fail to realize is that certain acts of closeness (we used to call it petting) can cause the body to want to do what comes naturally. I don’t think they teach about this in sex ed classes. I had to learn about it from my college room mates. And even if the dangers of petting are taught, teens will think they are invulnerable. Hopefully the teen marriage will work out. Some do, some don’t. I am all for abstinence, of course. But like we used to say Accidents cause children.
Would Oprah have the Klan on her show? I don’t think so.. Sara Palin falls in this catagory. As mayor she charged rape victims for their rape kits after they were assulted. As Gov. this women state has the highest in the nation of incess and rape from ages 12years and over. This women state lead the nation in domestic violence against women and the police chief she fired took it upon himself to organize (community organize)programs for relief. Something that Palin did nothing to protect women. Her state has the highest drug and dropout rate in the country.I wouldn’t have her ass on either!
The show is Oprah and certainly Oprah is her show…they are one and the same. An endorsement by Oprah is obviously a use of the show to promote a candidate. How foolish are we considered to be. More women should stop quoting her…being influenced by her…and STOP watching. LET’S TAKE OUR THOUGHTS BACK…IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE.
What Oprah didn’t tell you…(regarding her show (9/15/2008) on Protect Our Children Act ).
Congress and the Senate have been trying to pass bill to protect our children over the past 2 years. Joe Biden sponsered the bill back in 2007 and Sen. Tom Coburn opposes it, saying he wants to stop redundant programs and reduce federal spending.
The more you research Coburn, the more you will learned he is one of those senators that is really trying to cut down on spending. They have even developed a nick name for him “Coburn Omnibus”. To counter the spending, he introduced a comprehensive child exploitation bill that would have been linked Biden’s Protect Our Children Act of 2007 to the Securing Adolescents from Exploitation Online (SAFE) Act of 2007, minus all the excess bills and spending. But Democrats objected.
You see, there is a battle going on in congress, and this one is between Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senator Tom Coburn. Coburn has stopped many of Reids bills from passing due to abundant spending…so Reid came up with a plan.
The official bill is S. 3297, the Advancing America’s Priorites Act
Underneith it are 36 additional bills…one which includes S. 1738 – Protect Our Children Act of 2008.
In order for this bill to pass it would mean the entire bill would need to pass…and that is why it failed in 2007. Reid is excited to have Oprah pressuring you to help his goal. But before you take additional action…look through the 36 other bills and then question if you are willing to have every family pay at least $65 in taxes for this one bill…when a slimmed down version would only cost $4.93.
